New Mini-Golf Bar Set For Cardiff
Set for launch in spring 2022 is Wales and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale’s latest venture in the hospitality industry. Bale, who is reportedly nicknamed “the golfer” in the Real Madrid dressing room, has been very open about his love for the sport and so it is no surprise he will incorporate it into his latest project.
Construction on the site was halted during the coronavirus pandemic when the venue was due to be based in the 18,000 sq ft basement of the Capitol Shopping Centre in the city centre. Since then, however, the team has decided to upscale the project when a larger venue came available on St Mary Street. The new venue now offers the project an extra 5,000 sq ft.
Plans indicate that the venue is to be home to an adults-only, three 9-hole courses, as well as two large bar and dining rooms, two independent street food kitchens, and A billiards room, which will be based on the second floor.
The courses are being built by the local company, Wild Creations, who are famous for their set work on popular shows such as I’m A Celebrity and for their recent take on the TARDIS Interior for popular BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who.
Contracted for the £1.2m fit-out scheme is Cardiff-based Paramount Interiors. Richard Jones, Managing Director at Paramount Interiors, commented: “Par 59 is a unique addition to Cardiff’s iconic St Marys Street, and it’s a pleasure to be appointed on such an exciting scheme. Despite coming up against challenges whilst trying to move this project forward during the midst of Covid-19, the whole project team now look forward to successfully delivering Par 59 in time for people to enjoy come Spring next year.”
Par 59 marks a second step into the hospitality industry for the star, following on from the opening of sports venue, Elevens Bar & Grill in Cardiff in 2017. Since opening, Elevens has placed runner up as ‘Best for Sport’ in the Great British Pub Awards 2018, 2019, 2021 and named winner of the Hospitality Social Media Awards 2019.
The new bar is the result of a partnership between Bale’s company Elevens Group LTD and The DEPOT, one of Wales’ most successful, independent entertainment brands. Wales star Gareth added, “I’m delighted to be working with a group of independent Welsh businesses to finally bring Par 59 to Cardiff. For me, it’s all about creating safe, fun environments where people can enjoy something a bit different, play golf, and meet with friends.”
