Cursed to Golf – a golf-like adventure where every shot counts!
Play as The Cursed Golfer, trapped in Golf Purgatory after a freak accident takes you out as you’re about to take the winning shot of an international tournament!
Players must follow the deviously designed courses across ‘Golf Purgatory’ in order to get back to the land of the living and snatch the trophy you were seconds away from winning! On each course, players will be followed by a ghostly legendary caddie who will tutor you in the mystical ways of golf to aid you on your quest.
Developed by Chuhai Labs, part of the charm of Cursed to Golf is the classic pixel-art graphics which are a popular feature of ‘retro’ Nintendo and other console games. The release was announced on the 24th March at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase alongside major games such as Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
While Cursed to Golf is the latest in a long line of different golfing games, it is unique in the sense it offers a fresh take on the golfing and roguelike subgenres. Make your way through a hole within the PAR Count or your curse will take you back to the beginning of the course! The courses are far from smooth sailing, however, as not only are players faced with bunkers and rough spots but each one is also flooded with obstacles such as high-powered fans, spikes, TNT, and more!
Being cursed to play golf forever in the eternity of Golf Purgatory does seem to have its benefits, however. Use Birdie-Eye to catch a view of the whole course and see what trials await you. Par count running low? Luckily, gold and silver Shot Idols are peppered throughout the holes, smashing through them with a cinematic flourish will replenish your shots. Ace Cards will turn the odds back in your favour, channeling your otherworldly powers to manipulate the game in incredible ways. Scattershot, U-Turn, Rocketball, Mulligans are just some of 20+ cards you have up your sleeve to turn the tide back in your favour!
Cursed to Golf is slated for a summer 2022 release across Xbox, Switch, and PC. However, if you just can’t wait to tee off then Cursed to Golf’s first biome is available now on Steam for a free, limited-time demo.
